Happy Birthday

Happy birthday mum. This is the first birthday, first Christmas, first new years you will miss and the gaping hole in our hearts just keeps growing. Every day I wake up hoping it was a bad dream and every day the bad dream turns out to be reality.

You gave us everything and now I can't give you anything back. So instead I will make you a promise. I will take advantage of life. I’ll take every opportunity offered to me because you no longer get those opportunities. I will not waste my life when yours was taken away too early. I will do everything you wanted to do so I can tell you all about it when we meet again. 

I look at my life and I thank you everyday because I know I wouldn't be where I am without you. I love you so much mum and I plan to stick around for as long as I can so I can achieve everything you wanted for me.

You are my drive, you are my guide, and you will always be by my side, in my heart and in my mind, forever and always. Happy birthday mum.
