The best of Melbourne's Good Food and Wine Show

Going to the Good Food and Wine Show is a bit of a tradition of mine and this year’s show did not disappoint. Here’s my favourite tastes of the day:

  1. Urban Alley

I went to Urban Alley’s launch last year in the Docklands and not being a big beer person I was a bit apprehensive, but Urban Alley won me over with their wide range of brews. My two favourites were their Urban Ale and their Urban Dark #you'rewelcome

  2. Never Never Gin

Born out of Adelaide, Never Never Gin was founded by three boys with a passion for juniper and adventure. Winning the World’s Best Classic Gin award this year, this brand is definitely one to watch - so keep an eye out out for Never Never on your next night out!

  3. Batch & Co - Spritz

Never had this brand before but holy smokes it was a pleasant surprise! The trouble with mixing your own spritz at home (especially when you’re not a bartender) is you can never get the quantities right! These little gems are perfectly mixed, fresh, and give you a little spring in your step - I definitely recommend!

  4. Select Aperitivo

I wasn’t sure what I was walking into when I walked up to Select Aperitivo’s stand but I certainly didn’t want to leave after I was there. We tried a few different ways of having Aperitivo and boy was I hooked - every drink was perfectly balanced and a real pleasure to drink. Definitely a bottle to have on your shelf at home!

  5. Feathertop

The first time I tasted Feathertop was on a trip to Bright, Victoria. It was a merlot, and not being a big merlot fan, I was certainly impressed. Running into them at the Good Food and Wine Show was a dream come true. Not only were their wines a pleasure to taste, the team behind the counter were so invested in the business - even the winemaker was behind the counter! Perfectly balanced, Feathertop is a brand I will always want at a restaurant, at home or as a gift.
